ANCESTOR DOLL
In this class you will create a family heirloom and learn exciting new techniques! Using a 2"x3" xerox copy of a photograph, you will make a personalized laminated paper face for a pieced doll body with contrasting arms and legs, a simple abstract body, or use a pattern from Pamela that you can modify. You will learn about jointing with buttons and adapting and changing basic patterns. The doll will be embellished with antique-style buttons and beads to complete the ancestor theme, or finished in a contemporary way, if you prefer. This is an opportunity to expand your cloth doll making repertoire to include paper faces. Alternative photo transfer techniques to cloth will be discussed and demonstrated. You will also have the opportunity to experiment with (and perhaps complete) four to six additional paper faces or to design a different body type for further doll making.
