ANGELS AND ICONS
The simplest form can often be the most expressive and powerful. A series of basic shapes with variations offers lots of opportunities for exploration and refinement. Cultures in every area of the world and every time in history have used icons to express their hopes and wishes for the future, to honor their goddesses and ancestors, as well as to express a wide range of characters.
We'll play with the small icon form, in all its infinite variety: piecing, painting, stamping, and varying the shape of the bodies, adding charms, hats, arms and legs and tails, to create personal spirits, mermaids, goddesses, ancestor ladies, with lots of opportunities for lace, beads, charms, and other embellishments.
We'll explore the power of dolls for focusing intention, creating a bit of sorcery and magic for yourself or someone else.
Pamela will provide a range of patterns, pre-sewn forms, and assistance to design your own personally-significant Icons, too. If you're really ambitious, we can create homes for the Icon families--bring a box to decorate. Or a cord for hanging your icon as jewelry.
